Which teenage love story has become proverbial, portrayed on stage and on the movie screen, rendered into an opera and a ballet? Romeo and Juliet, you say? You’ve seen too much of Leonardo di Caprio, Beautiful People! Those kids have got nothing on my grandparents, whose love story that lasted for 60 years starts in Part 4 (click for Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7).
This song will help to put you in the matchmaking atmosphere of a shtetl (small town) more than 100 years ago:
Now we are ready for my grandmother’s gefilte fish:

Once more I enjoyed the anticipation; and appreciated the Soviet style equality description even more

The soviet equality was aptly expressed in a rhyme: In one hand full avos’ka (net bag), in the other – little Vas’ka, behind her a drunken Ivan, and in front – the five-year plan.
Thank you so very much, Derrick.

Long time back I saw this movie.
Long movie but one must watch.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. (I think it’s almost 3 hours movie).
Thank you, Dolly.

It is a wonderful film. We also saw it on stage, and it was also a great production.
Thank you so much, dear Philo.

Isn’t this jellied fish?

They package it in jelly to preserve moisture (we call it fish a la jar), but homemade gefilte fish is removed from the broth before it is served, whereas part of the broth is chilled, turning into jelly, and served separately.
