A Big Party for a Big Number

Dear Beautiful People, it’s party time again and you are all invited! Please come celebrate with me the big number:

followed-blog-1000-2x

By the time I got around to throwing the party, I’ve already had 1025 followers, and I am grateful to each and everyone of you for your interest, your support, your kind and thoughtful comments, and just for being wonderful friends!

Welcome to my kitchen! The wine is ready to be poured, the cookies are coming up in a moment, but first I’ve got a charade for you.

Gingi-dino.jpg

Is it a Gingi-saurus or a Gingi-Dina? I don’t know. What is it doing with an African egg that has giraffes on it? And what about a playful cat – how did it get into this picture? Have a glass of wine and let your imagination fly! You can send me a link to a recipe, poem, short story, joke, even a title for it; all your answers will be prominently featured in my kitchen!

And now, have a cookie or two, or as many as you like! The recipe for these very chocolaty, but very healthy cookies is right here:

The music is on – let’s party!

      1. Thank you so much! I’d love to know more about “Chop Suey Cake” or Easy Pineapple Cake” https://melhopkins.com/2017/04/15/easy-pineapple-cake/ some bloggers indicate it dates back to World War II when the U.S. had sugar and fat rationing. Do you have any info? It’s one of my favorite dessert recipes.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Dear MelI don’t know anything about “Chop Suey Cake” but now I am curious and will research. As to the Easy or Short (that’s a literal translation from Chinese) Pineapple cake, your legend is correct in that it has to do with the beginning of WWII. The rest of it is wrong, though, and logically, how would a cake that contains butter and sugar be based on food rationing? In fact, it is a traditional Chinese wedding and funeral cake that should have 6 ingredients, including pineapple. There is a symbolic meaning to each ingredient, as well as to the entire cake. Apparently, Americans picked it up in Taipei where the US had a consulate up until 1941. It was closed when Japan joined the war. Wait till I make and post the “upside down” version, and I’ll tell more.

      3. Perfect! Well I added the butter (was too scared not to – heh heh) but the sugar part was confusing to me too! I’m so glad you’ll be the lead detective in this mystery – what you’ve already shared makes a lot of sense. I’m excited and looking forward to your post – thank you!

      4. My pleasure – glad to be of help! I am waiting for pineapples to come into season because I don’t use cans and stuff.

πŸ˜‚ ! It’s so unsafe to make assumptions with a ginger’s gender, isn’t it? There’s no indication whatsoever…sure! I’ll whip something up when I get back.
