Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, the Lasting Joy club has temporarily suspended its monthly meeting, but in this post you can see how much fun we used to have. Some of you, Beuatiful People, may still remember joining our meetings online. We hope and pray that life will return to “old normal,” rather than the “new normal” sooner, rather than later.
Have you figured it out, Beautiful People? Credit for this brilliant linguistic discovery belongs to a little cute French bistro (unfortunately not kosher) called Otentic.
Hanging right over the counter, facing you when you walk in, is a sign STRESSED IS DESSERTS SPELLED BACKWARDS. What better food idea for the Lasting Joy club February get-together than de-stressing while making this no-bake festive Purim dessert? My challenge in planning those get-together events is coming up with no cook, no bake, easy and fun to make dishes that could be tasted and enjoyed on the spot. In January, we made sushi (please click here). This one, the day before Purim, had to be Hamentaschen – what else do you do on Purim but stuff yourself with these scrumptious stuffed pastries! For the video recording of the process, you’ll have to click on It Works! at the Lasting Joy…

You are so right, dear Mimi: the idea was born after making cake pops with grandchildren. Thank you so much for stopping by!

I enjoyed the earlier story. Your title reminds me of the village of Llareggub in Under Milk Wood.

Lulu: “Our Dada says he never noticed that ‘stressed’ spelled backwards is ‘desserts’, but now that you have pointed it out, he thinks it might explain a lot about why he and Mama have been eating so much ice cream and cake this past year!”

Yes, Lulu, our Mama is cutting down on sugar, but it doesn’t mean cutting down on desserts, especially chocolate!

Wow, Dolly, thank you for revealing this nice Palindrome!! 🙂
Kool!! 🙂
Now I know why my hot chocolate (usually with soy milk, but now trying some affordable flax milk, though avoiding over-heating it…) is so calming!! 🙂
Cool!
Stay safe,
much love,

But this dessert was kosher, right? Just not the whole restaurant?

Dear Purple Person, Kashruth is like being pregnant – either you are or you aren’t. If the restaurant is not kosher, nothing in it is. I created this dessert in my own kitchen and just used the motto of the restaurant.

My wish too, Dolly! We want to have back the “old normal”, as we know and love. Who knows what the “new normal” will be! 😉 Will head over to read more about the club. Michael

I don’t think the “old normal” will ever be the same, and I don’t think it will happen very fast, but at least perhaps we won’t have to wear masks and will be able to have company and visit friends. We hope and pray!
Thank you so much, Michael!

Here today its told we need to have something like a “fast test”, we have to pay by ourselves, to get more freedom. Every second day our officials are having new ideas. I think i will looking for the next ship to overseas, if they will not find an end. Isnt it a well proved way: First thinking, than acting! :-))

The thinking seems to be throughly confused everywhere, including overseas, Michael. Don’t think we have it any better!

It was a different era with its own culture and its own values. We have no right to revise culture and judge past values from our more elightened viewpoint.
Enjoy your day, Michael.
