Lost Boat and Web Developer

This is my husband piloting our boat. The boat was torn off its mooring during Irma. Someone claimed that he had seen it first stuck under the bridge, then being towed by either the Marine Patrol, or the Coast Guard. Into the SLUDGE whirling in Biscayne Bay, went the dinghy that had been tied to the boat. We are still looking for the boat, calling every day and perusing lists of found boats dumped at the county holding sites.

Meanwhile, my enterprising and ingenious husband has started a new business, BoatRiggingSupply.com. For lack of our boat, he climbs in and out of hurricane-damaged other people’s vessels, engineering repairs and improvements. And here comes my urgent plea for HELP:

online-ed-guidance

We had a wonderful, brilliant Indian web developer with whom we had maintained great working relationship for years. Naturally, we reached out to him with this new web-based project. In his usual creative manner, he started working on it. He got paid. Then he disappeared! He doesn’t answer e-mails, his phone number is disconnected, and his Skype account has been inactive for two months! Certainly, I am concerned about his well-being, and I have no way of checking on him.

However, my husband’s business is on hold, which impacts our livelihood, and so, on his behalf, I am appealing to you, Beautiful People, for HELP!

WE NEED A WEB DEVELOPER, RIGHT NOW!

IF YOU CAN HELP, OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO CAN, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

      2. Thank you, Madelyn! I am sorry to have, I published my personal bad news, and I am not the one to complain. This was an attempt to help my husband. As you know, I am retired and on a limited income, i.e. limited by the government which, in its inimitable wisdom, determines how much income I am allowed to generate. I am therefore limited to teaching a couple of courses per semester. That makes my husband a breadwinner in the family, and this setback is a challenge that needs to be overcome. I am thankful for responses and support of many wonderful people – yourself included, of course! The goodwill of so many people will make it happen, I am sure.

      4. What has always made me strong is that I do not complain. Not that everything is perfect in my life; it never is, and it can’t be – that’s life! – but I do my best under the circumstances with confidence and positive attitude. At this time, doing my best means trying to help my husband in the only way I can, by appealing for help and hoping that among my 1700 followers, a solution will be found.
        I thank you caring, Madelyn!

Hi Dolly, I hope you find someone who can help. I would have no idea where to start, unless it was like a blog. Could your husband use WordPress? They have so many formats to choose from.
I so understand about getting a limited retirement pension… Because my husband has been working outside of the U.S. and thanks to a special « windfall provision », he has just found out that his social security earnings will be amputated by a non negligeable amount. I don’t understand how in this day and age government rules make it so hard for people who lived in different places.
Anyway, I also hope that your boat gets found also. It seems that you both enjoyed going out to sea and fishing — at least your husband did.

      11. Dear Joelle, thank you for caring! For business purposes, WordPress is considerably more expensive that other hosting services, so I’ve been told, and I don’t understand the first thing about it!
My husband and I are both from Odessa, we grew up on water, and enjoy water activities. My kayak and snorkeling equipment were also on the boat, and I am not even mentioning the outboard grill and all my kitchen stuff. We are still looking, though, and keep hoping!

I suspect that it isn’t just an allergy because I react to it exactly the way I react to casein in dairy products, i.e. pancreatic inflammation. However, I am not a physician or a nutritionist, so I might be wrong.

Pity I am in Singapore as I have lots of friends here who are web developers. How about using WordPress as your platform. I have social enterprises using it for free. You might want to think about it. Good luck my dear on having the business up and running. Sorry to hear that chappie disappeared. Strange he would abscond with money just like that especially when you know him.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I am really concerned about him! We’ve worked with him for years, and nothing like that ever happened. WordPress is much more expensive than anything else, and the whole point is not which platform to use, but building a commercial website that answers specific parameters. If you could ask some of your friends, perhaps someone would want to do it. I really appreciate your trying to help!

He carries a little weight in his own world and he knows I value you because I have spoken of you often. Let’s see what happens – no promises except that I will do my utmost to help 🙏

I’m not sure at the moment who to ask but it might help to know if they have a WordPress site or are after one? (It may be easier to find help for a WordPress site) If it’s another system, do they have access to any files that have already been designed or would a ‘helper’ have to start from scratch?’ If you can answer these questions I know Ute will do her best to find you help 🙏
