I want to thank all of you, Beautiful People, who nominated my blog for a prestigious Best Food Blog 2016 award. Whether I get it or not, the nomination itself is a great honor and a very humbling experience. I find myself in a very distinguished company! I am also grateful to the fabulous blogger and a lovely person https://nepaliaustralian.com for organizing and running this entire nomination and award process.
If you have already voted, and if you voted for me, please accept my most sincere thanks! If you haven’t, here is a simplified procedure:
- Use this link to go to the Nominations site. https://nepaliaustralian.com/2017/01/10/nepaliaustralians-blog-award-2016-nominations-announced/
- Scroll all the way down to the end of the Comments section.
- In the Comments field, copy and paste the following The Best Food Blog 2016 #2.
- While you are at it, spend a few more minutes to vote for nominees in the other categories. There are some awesome blogs out there!
You can also vote on Facebook and Twitter and spread the word, if you can.

Thank you.Madelyn and Tink! Some people found it difficult to figure out how to vote (remember, I was one of them), so I posted it again, with step-by-step instructions.

It was a good idea – and a good post. It took me a moment as well – different way to vote. Most people will go away before voting — unless they are as stubborn as I can be. 🙂
Your instructions are clear – and I’ve got my fingers crossed.

Yeah, and my toes, and my eyes… All crossed. My math-and-engineering cousin asked how she was going to tabulate the votes. I am also wondering – it seems to be a tremendous undertaking, if done manually.
LikeLiked by 1 person
She is VERY generous indeed to spend her time tabulating votes.
When I first began OFI there was little automation to be had (and what was there was beyond my budget), and doing everything manually practically did me IN.

For my dissertation, I had to process pre- and post- scores of almost 6,000 students. Had I not secured help of a couple of student assistants to access the existing data and enter it for me, I would probably still be working on it, 22 years later.

My mind goes numb even thinking about it! I had enough trouble grading papers without some student assistant help.

I teach college, you know, not “school” school, and I’ve taught nights for years, first when I was running my school during the day, and then when I had to take care of my father during the day. Now I teach 4 mornings a week, and I have a chance to enjoy dinners with my husband every night – life is beautiful!

Sounds wonderful. I’ve never actually checked that out, since I don’t have any official “teaching” degrees and a few life struggles didn’t support my PhD goals — but maybe they’d be interested in some of my other credentials. hmmmm . . .
Of course, they’d have to agree with letting me teach at night since I live alone and don’t wake reliably to sound.

First of all, you don’t need a teaching degree to teach college, as long as you have a graduate degree in your field, which you do. Secondly, community colleges LOVE adjuncts who teach at night, and most of them do not require a doctoral degree, so your Masters should suffice. I started teaching college 28 years ago with an MA, and did an Ed D while teaching at the same university. Some of my professors were my colleagues – it was hilarious. If you like teaching, go for it!

Thank you so much! I also admire Carol – tremendously! – but unfortunately, she is not one of the nominees. I have no idea how I ended up in that lineup, but since I am there, I might as well try to win, if not for myself, but for promoting awareness of kosher cooking.

You’re doing a mitzvah 🙂

Thank you so much! The Chofetz Chaim said that while doing a mitzvah, one has to be conscious of doing a particular mitzvah, otherwise it doesn’t really count, so thank you for bringing it to my attention – I wasn’t even aware. Now you get a mitzvah for helping me do a mitzvah!
